A Writing Update (Sorta)

Yeah, I’m still calling myself a writer, even though it’s been quite a while since I’ve actually done any writing. In fact, my last manuscript was completed in November 2007. Yeah, I suck.

But, mostly to make myself feel better, I’m posting the stuff I have done lately:

January 12, 2008 – Sent Shooting Stars to Silhouette Desire (Rejected)
November 29, 2008 – Sent Shooting Stars to Ellora’s Cave/Cerridwen (Pending)
January 24, 2009 – Sent Shooting Stars to Loose Id (Rejected)
March 3, 2009 – Sent Shooting Stars to Liquid Silver Books (Pending)

So, see? I’m doing stuff. Kinda. So my goal for the rest of the year is to submit something every other month. That means that when Shooting Stars is submittable no more, and everyone on the planet has looked at it and rejected it, I’ll need to have something new ready to submit. Which means I’d better get crackin’, because I’m running out of places to send it. :)

Oh, and if you’re wondering how I’m keeping track of all these submissions, check out Writer’s Database. It’s a great, simple tool for tracking stuff related to writing, and I love it.

How about you? Any writing goals for the year?

  • Don't talk to me about goals. I hate them, mainly because I've missed mine and the year just started. Still trying to finish the 20,000 novella which still isn't 20,000 words and missed the deadline for submission where I wanted it. Still gonna finish, still gonna submit just not so into it.

Also haven't started The Novel yet. This is the first story I want to make into a novel instead of a short. Except I can't decide which storyline to write and really if I can't make 20,000 words how the heck can I make 60,000 or 80,000 words. And have it done by July so I can pitch at Nationals which I'm now not going to because I wont have a friggin story to pitch.

And my youngest is sick so now work today. Yeah. I suck too. Aren't you glad you asked? Now back to your regularly scheduled Miss. Sunshine and Roses narrator.
  • Aww, BETH! I'm sending you big sunshiney internet hugs. Don't be too hard on yourself, ok? I know you, and I know you work hard and set challenging goals for yourself. Don't be sad! I love ya.
