Haircut

I always bring a photo with me when I get a new hairstyle. But it never really turns out looking like the photo anyway. Most recently was the Katie Holmes bob. I don’t look like Katie Holmes in the first place, so, you know, I can’t expect much. But still. I was hoping for a little more Katie Holmes and a little less Chicago The Musical vamp.

This time, I brought in the photo to the left.

Nope, I look nothing like that. Nothing. But I keep hoping that, someday, I’ll bring in a picture of what I want my hair to look like and the magical hairstylist will be able to do it. Not sure why it’s so hard. Maybe my hair just foils them, like Harry Potter’s magical regrowing hair.

How about you? Does your haircut ever turn out like the picture? Does it make you mad when it doesn’t?

Ok, ok, here’s what my hair actually looks like now:

Sonja, I saw you in person last week and I thought you looked beautiful!
  • Suck it.

I think it has to do with the fact that your hair is a bit wavy. The chick in that picture looks to have had her hair flat ironed and has a lot of product also.

What I can't stand... is when my stylist blows out my hair after a cut and it looks AMAZING. But then the next day I wash it and it never looks even half as good.

I don't have time for fussy hair!
  • Yeah, I think it's the product. Plus my hair is really thick and coarse, so it's not gonna do like hers. The stylist actually flat ironed mine and I HATED it. I looked like Kate of Jon & 8 fame. Ugh.
  • I love it. You look so pretty! And you know what's funny? Two weeks ago I got my haircut and I brought the same Katie Holmes bob photo to my sylist. But he convinced me to get a different style. Mine looks OK, but I really love yours!
  • Haha! That's pretty funny. I wonder why that Katie Holmes bob is so appealing. I guess my stylist "convinced" me to get a different style... she just didn't tell me first. ;)
  • I never take in a picture. Mainly because most models/actresses do not have naturally curly hair. They have nice straight hair. And a ton of money to throw at hair people to make them look nice for pictures.

So I go tell the person cutting my hair to take off an inch or two and I get what I get. I gave up on my hair a long time ago...about the time I realized all a hair dryer did was frizz out my hair worse.
  • I don't know what I'd do if I had to use (gasp!) hair product. Hair product is so beyond my intelligence that I never know what to do. So it's a darn good thing my hair is NOT naturally curly.
