My North Carolina Authors original post, Part 1 got so long that I had to start breaking it up! Go back and read part 1 first, and I’ll meet you here when you’re done.
Cool? Cool. Here are some more great North Carolina authors:
Claudia Dain- Claudia is, I think, one of the savviest people I know. She’s smart, funny, and has a business sense like you would not believe. All of that comes through in her books, I think. I really enjoyed some of her older books, and now she’s got a series out with a completely different tone than her older books, which I also love. It centers around a smart, funny, savvy woman. Imagine that! Here’s my review of The Courtesan’s Daughter, the first in her courtesan series.
I heard the author refer to this book as a “romp,” and I couldn’t agree more. The playful, fast-paced back and forth between the large cast of characters will keep you turning pages and laughing as you go. Enjoyable read, well done, and lots of fun!
Teresa D’Amario- I haven’t read any of Teresa’s stuff (yet!), but she’s really active in the romance community. If you’re there at all, I’m sure you’ve seen her around! She writes dark paranormals– shapeshifters, my favorite!
Mary Margret Daughtridge- Always willing to share her struggles and her knowledge! She’s writing a Navy SEAL series right now, and I hear it’s great. Her books are also in my TBR pile. (This blog series is making me feel really guilty about my To Be Read pile.)
Karen Dodd- Karen writes stories set in the North Carolina coastal area, and her covers are some of the prettiest I’ve seen. Because she self-publishes, she always gets to choose her covers. How awesome is that?
Mari Freeman- Mari is a prisoner of adult braces, just like me, so I feel like we are somehow kindred spirits. Heh. Mari writes really steamy stuff, and keeps up a steamy blog, too.
Candy Halliday- Candy used to write cute chick-lit type books, and I loved them. She’s now moving on to more serious family saga type stories for Superromance. I can’t wait to read those, although it’s going to be a switch. I can’t imagine Candy not being laugh-out-loud funny in her books. Here’s my review of Dream Guy.
Loved it! I haven’t read a contemporary romance in a while, and certainly not a contemporary chick-lit type. This one was definitely a winner. At first, I thought, “Ugh, video games. So not my style,” but it wasn’t ABOUT video games. Duh. I should have known that romances are always about the romance! I fell in love with the characters as they fell in love with each other, and I thoroughly enjoyed the modern spins on everything from descriptions to point of view to dialogue. Great, fun read!
