Funk

Readers, I am in a funk. A deep, dark, don’t-wanna-do-anything, I-suck-at-everything, childish, horrible funk. There is no good reason for said funk. It’s just a vaguely bad mood that’s been hanging around for weeks.

I’ve got some ideas to try for getting out of my funk and on with my life:

  1. Exercise more. (Groan.)
  2. Take a class or a workshop about something new.
  3. Make some goals and start working on them.
  4. Listen to some good songs.
  5. Rearrange furniture in one room in the house.
  6. Just get the hell OVER IT already.

Can you help me come up with some more? Leave your suggestions in the comments!

    Been there, still in it.

Go out into the sunshine. Have lunch outside…still warm enough to enjoy it.
    Exercise more.
Don't worry about the small stuff. (easier said than done, I know)
Just do something to get a sense of accomplishment. Even something small.
    READ, READ, READ. :)

That's about my current list of stuff to do. Exercise, Sunshine and Read are at the top of my list. I don't do enough exercise but I don't stress over my weight until I have nothing else to stress over. Imagine that.

Um, i'm right there with you. I freaked Craig out this weekend because i was so depressed, for no known reason. Terrific, right?

What i'm doing is ignoring it and hoping it goes away – and distracting myself so i don't have to think about it (analyzing why i'm depressed for no reason is making me more depressed).

So, stupid movies and books :)

I hope you feel better soon, Beth, and thanks very much for the suggestions! “Read” should definitely be on my list, but it's one of those activities I haven't felt like doing the past few weeks… And if I don't feel like reading, I KNOW something's wrong. ;)

Is there something in the air? Maybe it's the shortening days or something… Ignoring and hoping it goes away sometimes works. :) And I'm all for stupid movies and books. Hope you feel better soon, and watch an extra stupid movie for me.

I watched Twilight, does that count? :) I've also been watching a season of JAG – my new goal is to become both a lawyer and a fighter pilot at once.

Twilight was stupid, so it totally counts (the movie, not the book). JAG is not stupid. You'll need to work on that.

i know JAG isn't stupid, but i figure anything that can distract me for an extended period of time from REALITY (which JAG certainly is not), works. distraction, whee!

Sunshine is a great idea! My other suggestions involve ice cream and shopping, both which are a smidge self-defeating in themselves…

    7. Pamper yourself: Get a hot stone massage.
    8. Get a Mani and Pedi & pick a WILD nail polish color. AND get flowers painted on your big toes complete with a sparkly gemstone in center.
    9. Go shopping & pick out a new perfume fragrance that you love.
    10. Invite friends over to play poker.
    11. Watch a comedy at movies or dvd
    12. Go to Starbucks and drink Hot Chocolate with whipped cream.

Shopping is always good. And maybe I can substitute low fat frozen yogurt for the ice cream…
