So you’d like to get into the Halloween spirit…

Wrote this a while back for an Amazon.com guide, but thought I’d share it here, too, since it’s that time of year!

Want a pre-Halloween stroll through the Voodoo festival town of Mojo, Louisiana? Try Stephanie Bond’s spooky yet hilarious In Deep Voodoo. You’ll meet Penny, town health food nut; B.J., sexy Cajun P.I.; and of course all the creepy so-and-sos who come out for the annual Voodoo festival at the beginning of October.

In the mood for an old black and white classic to snuggle down with? Watch Arsenic and Old Lace. Cary Grant is superb as an absent-minded newlywed, trying to dodge more than one Big Problem on Halloween night.

For some rich New England Autumn scenery, nothing’s better than Nora Roberts’s Dance upon the Air (Three Sisters Island Trilogy). You’ll love the story of three witches (some of them reluctant) and their quest. Continue the series with Heaven and Earth and Face the Fire, but be warned! Nora might just cast a spell on you and make you fall in love with Three Sisters Island and its namesakes.

What list would be complete without a Mel Brooks classic? Dracula – Dead and Loving It will have you laughing until you cry… or maybe die.

Happy Halloween!

Also, in a shameless bid for your attention, I would like to point out that October is paranormal month at The Wild Rose Press, and all the Faery Rose and Black Rose books are on sale, including mine! Check them out!

  • What a great post! (I totally didn't remember that Arsenic and Old Lace took place at Halloween.) I'm off to the library this morning for the Nora Roberts book, even though the title of your first option ("In Deep Voodoo", Hah!) makes me snort.
  • Hope you enjoy the Nora Roberts! I think that trilogy is my favorite that I've read by her.
