Read Any Good Books Lately?

I have.

Two Little Lies (Sins, Lies and Secrets, #2) by Liz Carlyle

Really nice follow-up to the first in the series, One Little Sin. Quin was a little hard to like at first, but you understand him more, little by little, and by the end of the book I was fully on board. Vivianna was a compelling character with an intense back story that I loved discovering. Well-crafted story, can’t wait to finish the series with Three Little Secrets.

New Moon (Twilight, #2) by Stephanie Meyer

I got the feeling from some friends who’d read this before me that I was going to HATE HATE HATE this book. I really didn’t. In fact, I may be weird, but I think I liked it better than the first book in the series. The pacing was better, the emotion was stronger, and I got to know Bella better. I had a little bit of trouble with some of the motivation, but it seemed to all tie together in the end, so I’m willing to let that slide. Overall, I really enjoyed it!

Three Little Secrets (Sins, Lies, and Secrets, #3) by Liz Carlyle

Loved Merrick! But then, I always like the dark, grouchy heroes. Great story, with lots of drama, and one of the sweetest endings I’ve read in a long time.

On the Way to the Wedding (Bridgertons, #8) by Julia Quinn

Sweet and funny, but heart-wrenching, too. I loved it, and I actually laughed out loud and cried a lot. So glad when I find a book that will make me do both!

Scandal in Spring (Wallflowers, #4) by Lisa Kleypas

Daisy is one of my favorites in the series, and I like that Lisa Kleypas shook it up a bit and gave her a hero I wasn’t expecting. Lovely chemistry, and a great end to the series.

So what have you read lately? Anything I should pick up?

I'm glad to hear you liked New Moon; I found it a quick and pleasant read. 🙂

I enjoyed The Lovely Bones, but it's a bit dark. You might like Waiting by Ha Jin — I found the setting descriptions completely transported me, which is rare.
Of course, my favorites by Dean Koontz: Lightning, and Twilight Eyes…

I picked up all the Harmony series by Jayne Castle (aka Jayne Ann Krentz and Amanda Quick) This is the futuristic side of the Arcane series (although the Arcane don't make an appearance until late in the series). I like this series best out of the three areas but I'm a fantasy type of girl anyway so it isn't a surprise.

I also read the three Raine Benares Urban Fantasy books by Lisa Shearin. It's a good series with two interesting male characters to keep Raine company.

My Dean Koontz favorites are Lightening and Watchers.

  • I did like The Lovely Bones– wondering if I'll like the movie, though. Thanks for the other suggestions, too!

  • I have some Lisa Shearin in my TBR pile that I definitely need to tackle; also some Amanda Quick. Thanks for the suggestions!

I haven't been impressed with the previews, but I do like Mark Wahlberg. I'll probably wait for it to come out on DVD. 🙂

  • I saw The Lovely Bones at the $1.50 theater and was surprised to have liked it. It was still kinda depressing but better than I expected from the previews.
