Resolutions: March 15 Check-up

My 2010 resolutions revolve around routines, so I wanted to do a March 15 update on the routines I’ve successfully implemented, and the ones I have not.

1. Exercise every day in the morning.

This has been off and on, although I’m proud to say that right now it’s on. Robbie and I started P90X, and in order to avoid having to do it when I get home from work (when I’m usually starving and/or grouchy), I’ve been doing it in the morning. It’s a daily routine, so there’s no cheatin’, like “oh I can just do it twice this week.” Nope. Doesn’t work that way. My goal? Stick with it for all 90 days– then re-evaluate. (Of course, as I’m typing this, my arms are stuck in a partially-bent position and I can’t stand up straight… but the soreness wears off eventually, right? Right?)

2. Write for at least one hour every weekday evening, and do promo on the weekends.

This has not gotten off the ground. I meant to make this my habit for February, but we had a vacation thrown in there, which completely threw things off. I think I’m going to give myself a little more time to settle into morning work-outs, then re-implement this one.

3. Make a grocery list and a menu every week, grocery shop once a week, cook dinner every weekday evening.

Ha! Haha. That is all. However, I am newly inspired. Maybe this is the week of the pantry clean-out and reorg and subsequent grocery trip.

4. Make a weekly laundry routine including washing, folding, sheets, and ironing.

I’m actually getting better at this. My laundry day is now Monday, which includes sheets if I have time. If not, sheets are Tuesday. Ironing is still the bane of my feeble existence. It’s next on the list after writing time gets established.

5. Tackle the cleaning “hotspots” every day.

Definitely not here yet, but doing better than I was at the beginning of the year because I just couldn’t stand the clutter anymore. It’s MUCH easier to pick up a little pile of stuff every day than to pick up giant piles of crap every weekend. Lesson learned.
