Kindle vs Nook

I’ve decided to take the plunge: I’m buying an eBook reader. But the hard part about this is deciding which one to buy. In my mind, there are 3 main competitors: Kindle, Nook, and iPad.

iPad is immediately struck from my list. Why? (1) It’s too expensive. (2) No E Ink technology, and the major reasoning behind purchasing an eBook reader for me is to save my eyes from reading eBooks on a computer screen or on my iPhone. (3) It’s brand new technology (well, the parts of it that aren’t a giant iPhone, anyway), and with brand new technology comes glitches from hell. (4) I don’t need all the extra non-eBook stuff. I already have an iPhone for that.

So that leaves Kindle vs. Nook. I asked for some feedback on Twitter and Facebook this week about Kindle vs. Nook, and here’s what I got: Continue reading

Resolutions: March 15 Check-up

My 2010 resolutions revolve around routines, so I wanted to do a March 15 update on the routines I’ve successfully implemented, and the ones I have not.

1. Exercise every day in the morning.

This has been off and on, although I’m proud to say that right now it’s on. Robbie and I started P90X, and in order to avoid having to do it when I get home from work (when I’m usually starving and/or grouchy), I’ve been doing it in the morning. It’s a daily routine, so there’s no cheatin’, like “oh I can just do it twice this week.” Nope. Doesn’t work that way. My goal? Stick with it for all 90 days– then re-evaluate. (Of course, as I’m typing this, my arms are stuck in a partially-bent position and I can’t stand up straight… but the soreness wears off eventually, right? Right?)

2. Write for at least one hour every weekday evening, and do promo on the weekends.

Read Any Good Books Lately?

I have.

Two Little Lies (Sins, Lies and Secrets, #2) by Liz Carlyle

Really nice follow-up to the first in the series, One Little Sin. Quin was a little hard to like at first, but you understand him more, little by little, and by the end of the book I was fully on board. Vivianna was a compelling character with an intense back story that I loved discovering. Well-crafted story, can’t wait to finish the series with Three Little Secrets.

New Moon (Twilight, #2) by Stephanie Meyer

I got the feeling from some friends who’d read this before me that I was going to HATE HATE HATE this book. I really didn’t. In fact, I may be weird, but I think I liked it better than the first book in the series. The pacing was better, the emotion was stronger, and I got to know Bella better. I had a little bit of trouble with some of the motivation, but it seemed to all tie together in the end, so I’m willing to let that slide. Overall, I really enjoyed it! Continue reading
