Summer Lovin’

It’s summer-time, officially now, since Memorial Day weekend is over. Summer-time means lots of great things, but it also means the disruption of some of your regularly scheduled entertainment. Your TV shows are in summer reruns, Blockbuster and Netflix are looking a little worn out what with all the big movies being in the theaters for the summer, and if you were in school, you don’t have that to take up your time for the summer either. (Well, unless you’re a fortunate soul like me and get to take classes in the summer, too– I can hardly stand the joy.)

But I’m here to save you from a summer of boredom! Join me in 3 fun things to do with a group. And they’re romance-related because, well, that’s what I like and this is my blog… You’ll have to be a little bit of a joiner, but it probably won’t hurt too much.

1. Brier Creek Barnes & Noble Romance Book Club

I know, this one’s kind of Raleigh-centric, so if you’re not in the area, feel free to skip this part. If you are in the area, though, the romance book club is TONS of fun. We read in a different sub-genre of romance every month, so if one month isn’t your cuppa, hang in there and we’ll get to yours eventually! This month we’re reading Nothing But Trouble by Rachel Gibson. Meeting is June 9 at 7:30 pm. It’s fun, I promise!

2. Smart Bitch Sarah’s Sizzling Summer BookClub

If you don’t know Smart Bitch Sarah yet, fix that please, right away. She is the webmaster and reviewer behind Smart Bitches, Trashy Books, a site that reviews romance novels and does other stuff, too– generally involving creative swear-words and man-titty. (What’s not to love?) First book is One Dance with a Duke by Tessa Dare (who is a fabulous writer). That’s going on in June and I believe there will be a chat about it on June 22. If you buy the book from All Romance eBooks (use code SBTBARE), you get a sweet rebate! Get on the Smart Bitch Wagon!

3. The Popcorn Dialogues

Now that you have some romance to read, you need some romance to watch. That’s where Lucy March and Jennifer Crusie come in. For the next nine months, they’ll be watching a romantic comedy every Friday night. You can watch it with them and follow the tweets with #popd, which is going to be totally fun, or you can watch the movie on your own and then listen to the podcast, which will go up on Saturdays. First movie will be It Happened One Night, this Friday, June 4.

So you’re in, right? And now you don’t have any excuse to be bored this summer! You’re welcome.
