Don’t Stop

There’s a section on my annual review at work that says, “Stop: / Don’t stop:” and it always makes me think of this scene in The Sound of Music. Liesl has snuck out to the garden for a meeting with Rolfe. She pretends she is sending Rolfe a telegram, and it goes:

Dear Rolfe
Stop
Don’t stop
Your Liesl

Now doesn’t that make “Don’t stop” sound so much more fun? So this year I’m doing a Don’t Stop list, instead of New Year’s Resolutions. Here it is:

Coming in the New Year

I know I owe you all an update on the progress of my 30 Before 30 list, but I have to make some not-quite-positive remarks (I’ve failed 3 things– doh!), and I wanted to come back from my short blog hiatus on a positive note.

So, here it is, my positive note: I am in the chorus for the Durham Savoyards’ production of Princess Ida! Take that, #4! I’m so excited about this– I’ve done music all my life, but I haven’t been in a musical since middle school, and that was a musical revue, so this will be my first actual show, and certainly the first in my adult life. What makes it even better is that my high school buddy of old, Kimmy, is also in the chorus. It’ll be just like the best parts of show choir and geometry class, all over again! I can’t wait. Rehearsals start in January, and save the date, because the show is March 24-27, 2011 and I expect all of you within a 3 hour radius to get your hinies to Durham and see it.
