Partners in Crime… and Writing (Sonja’s Take)

Melinda Skye, writing partner extraordinaire for ScriptFrenzy this month, wrote an awesome post on partner writing that you should go read right now. Here’s a little piece of it:

It wasn’t completely a smooth road. There were a few hiccups. The first one came when Sonja sent me back the script (really early on) with a character standing in a fluffy dress. There was no explanation for the dress or what was going on.

I are evil. By the way, she did a great job writing the subsequent scene, even without knowing where I was going. (Honestly, I didn’t really know where I was going either.) Read the rest of the post!

#20 Write a Movie Script: Almost There!

Skye and I won ScriptFrenzy! Yay!

Pictured right is Skye standing at the summit and pulling my unwilling ass to the top. She is the reason we won, and the reason we are almost finished with this script. She wrote most of the pages for the month, did a lot of the plotting legwork, and tirelessly encouraged me, even though I am really annoying and lame and can barely squeeze out a few pages every 3 days. In short, she is awesome.

We’re putting the finishing touches on the script this week, and I think we’re on track to wrap it up shortly here.

#1 Learn to Play a Musical Instrument: DONE!

Yes, folks, I’m checking this one off, mostly because I successfully taught my niece and nephew how to play one song and a few chords on the ukulele this weekend while camping, and if I can teach it, that means I can play it, right? Ok, so my 10-year-old niece was actually better at it than I am, but still. I know some chords, so we’re calling it good.

My ukulele skills pale in comparison (literally) to my brother-in-law's campfire building skills.
