I used to keep a list of all the things I wanted to do and check them off as I did them. It worked. Sort of. But then I realized that I want more.
I have goals. They’re good goals. But they’re big.
So this is my list of impossible things. It’s the stuff that I always wanted to accomplish “someday,” but never gave myself enough credit to try. It’s the stuff that’s so important to me that to fail is scarier than never trying at all.
But screw that. I’m trying. I want to do something meaningful and good, not just show up every day.
This is a living list, and I’ll be adding to it, crossing things off, and blogging about it.
The Impossible List
Cancel satellite TV.[May 3, 2010]
- Give away 10% of my income.
Do Project 333.[November 30, 2011] Write for a living.[July 12, 2012]
- Live at the beach.
- Do 100 pushups in a row.
- Squat 200 lbs.
- Do 1 strict pull-up.
- Deadlift 200 lbs.
- Do 24 burpees in 1 minute.
- Pass the Crossfit butt test.
Write a book.[November 30, 2004] Get published.[March 23, 2007] Get a literary agent.[August 2012]
- Sell a book to a big New York publisher.
- Get on New York Times Best-Seller list
- Get on USA Today Best-Seller list
- Write a movie script. [in progress]
Learn to play a musical instrument.[May 1, 2011] Grow my own tomatoes.[July 23, 2010]
- Fix a toilet. [sorta]
- Refinish a piece of furniture.
- Sew a dress.
Be in a musical.[March 30, 2011] Sing karaoke (in public).[May 5, 2011] Go vegetarian for one month.[April 11, 2011] See a musical on Broadway.[May 5, 2012]
