The Impossible List

I used to keep a list of all the things I wanted to do and check them off as I did them. It worked. Sort of. But then I realized that I want more.

I have goals. They’re good goals. But they’re big.

Maybe impossible.

So this is my list of impossible things. It’s the stuff that I always wanted to accomplish “someday,” but never gave myself enough credit to try. It’s the stuff that’s so important to me that to fail is scarier than never trying at all.

But screw that. I’m trying. I want to do something meaningful and good, not just show up every day.

This is a living list, and I’ll be adding to it, crossing things off, and blogging about it.

Original inspiration for the impossible list is Joel Runyon’s Impossible List. Check his out, read the Impossible Manifesto, check my list out (below), make your own, and let me know how it’s going!

What’s on your impossible list?

I love this idea! I think I’ll try to give mine a shot, I’ll let you know if I get one solidified. Good luck, Sonja!

Thanks, and good luck to you, too!

Big goals, Sonja! But these all seem goals that can be broken down to steps needed to be taken to accomplish them. You’ll never accomplish a huge goal if just the final big step is how you list it.

Fix a toilet? Get a book about how to do so. Find a friend who knows how to do so and is willing to teach you. Set aside time to learn. Fix the toilet. Doable!

Live at the beach? What would have to happen before you can do that? List the steps. Take them one by one. Not so impossible!

Me, I’ve got my own Big Goals list. I’m working on those tiny steps to get there. (And the Big Lesson is: enjoy the process of getting there!)

Yes, Carol, exactly! The Impossible List is sort of written this way on purpose– the blog is going to be where I break it down into steps. And, you’re right, the process is the important part, for sure.
