Halloween Mantel

I always like to decorate my mantel for the holidays. We only have one “living area” (none of that formal living room, family room, den, etc. crap– it’s all in one spot), and the fireplace is the focal point, so decorating my mantel gives me a lot of bang for my buck. If I’m going to decorate one spot in the house for the season, that’s the place.

The best tips I’ve ever found for decorating a mantel? They come from Dina Holland of Honey & Fitz. Here’s her helpful little diagram:

Cool, right? Now you can decorate your mantel for any season, just using those tips. (Check out Dina’s post for some examples of mantel decor that will work for any season.)

And (drumroll, please) here’s my Halloween mantel for this year:

What do you think? Are you inspired to decorate your mantel now? What’s your favorite spot in your house to decorate for holidays?

I decorate my mantel for Halloween and Christmas.   I also have an open spot in my china cabinet that I use to decorate as well.  I’m waiting for hubby to move his Star Wars stuff and the kids legos that have been on display for summer.   NonHoliday decorating time means the mantel is a catchall.  I guess I could decorate during valentine’s day, easter, etc.  But I don’t get into those holidays as much as Halloween and Christmas.

Great job.  Love the candelabra.  Although it does seem lopsided without a taller item on the right as well.  (Gotta love that quest for symmetry)

    • Yeah, I probably need another good solid thing on the right. I’ll have to think about that. 🙂

So creepy, I love it (especially the candelabra!)
