Alright, I realize that maybe it’s a bit hyperbolic to tell you that these blogs (or the books from last week) will change your life. But they sure as hell changed mine, and that’s really all I have to go on here, so onward.
This blog isn’t active anymore, but you can still read all the posts from Celine’s 30 Before 30 Project. Her project is what inspired me to do my 30 Before 30 project, and in her case, she actually made everything on her list happen! Totally inspiring, plus just a lot of fun to read.
If you guys haven’t heard all of my Project 333 ranting and raving yet, here’s a little background. I am a true believer. I know it sounds crazy, but it will change your life. Cleaning out my closet inspired me to clean out a whole lot of other stuff in my life, too.
If Project 333 isn’t quite your speed, maybe The Minimalists will be. What I appreciate about them is that this isn’t a decor style or a contest to see if they can live out of a backpack. It’s a way-stripped-down, simplified lifestyle for the sake of being happier. They are practical, realistic, and motivated by the good they’ve seen it do in their own lives.
A long time ago, I tried Fly Lady because that seemed like the thing to do. I am not against Fly Lady. It totally works for some people, but the tone was just too grating for me. She’s like your crazy auntie giving you cutesy advice. UfYH is like your swearing, partying cooler sister kicking your ass. UfYH is inspiring the way Hoarders is inspiring. You get to gawk at other people’s shitty housekeeping skills and then applaud them when they get it together and clean it up already.
I am not a hardcore anything, guys, and this blog is a little hardcore, I have to say. I’m not going to go get six-pack abs or run a marathon or anything, but I love the idea of an Impossible List. Everything in this blog applies to all challenges, not just physical ones, so if you need a little booty kick to get in gear on some of your unrealized dreams that you thought you could never make happen, go read it.
That should keep you busy for a while, but if you need more stuff, here’s what I’ve been up to lately:
What I Wrote
I made a disgusting-looking drink. Nothing new there, really.
I answered a very important question.
I made apple grimaces with gingivitis. For Halloween. Yeah. They’re supposed to look that bad.
Unicows! Did you even know about the glory of unicows?
I gave myself a gory manicure. And talked a little about politics. Oops.
Also, I have no link for this one, but I finished my book proposal and sent it off to my agent! I’ve been working on this thing (mostly gnashing my teeth and whining, “I don’t know how to do this,” to be honest) for weeks, and it feels so good to have it off of my desk and into the hands of my agent, who will, I’m sure, have many edits for me, but editing a pile of crap is much easier than editing nothing at all. So we’ll call it a win.
On Teh Internets
I had to decide if “labia-shaped” was hyphenated or not for this post at CraftFail.
And this is the thing I wish I had created, but alas, I did not: a Binders Full of Women Tumblr. Go and be amazed.
What I Read
How a Lady Weds a Rogue (Falcon Club #3) by Katharine Ashe - Wyn is probably one of my favorite heroes ever, and Diantha was so sweet and lovable. Lots of great, cute characters and a fun plot with some adventure and antics. I really, really enjoyed this book!
What I Watched
My Future Boyfriend – Am I the only one who gets a kick out of Disney-channel-style made-for-TV movies? Did you know they make them for grown-ups, too? Oh they do, and this is one of them. Shitty acting, stupid plot, cheesy everything, but my god it was adorable.
The Vampire Diaries – I am caught up to just about current now, except that I need to watch the first episode from this season. I tend to not do that and just wait until the whole run is over and watch them all on Netflix, but this one might actually be worth keeping up with.
**SPOILER ALERT** (Highlight text to read it.)
Except they killed my favorite hot teacher. Damn them.
If you want to keep up with me on a minute by minute basis and just can’t wait to find out what the next piece of gray matter I toss up on the Internets will be, you can follow me on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and Tumblr. (I try to post different stuff in all these places, so you won’t get inundated with the exact same thing if you follow all of them.)
