Sometimes I Get Stuff Right

I just wanted to prove that sometimes the stuff I try from Pinterest actually does work. I found a tutorial for highlighting and contouring (HAC) with your make-up the other night, and I tried it out.

hacOn first glance I realize it just looks like I’m tanner in the second pic, but I used a pretty light touch since this was my first attempt. I think it made my cheekbones more prominent and my forehead less prominent, which is always a good thing. Anyway, this could have gone horribly, horribly wrong, but it didn’t, and I just wanted to prove it to you. The end.

Here’s what else has been the haps this week:

What I Wrote

I asked what you think about videos. Results seem to say that I think I am funnier than I actually am. Probably guilty as charged.

I made a boxwood wreath that doesn’t suck. But I haven’t looked at it since I put it up and there is at least a 50% chance that it’s all brown by now and I’ll leave it up until April anyway.

I also made a hard candy serving tray. There’s a kitty story in the comments on that post that will most likely make your day. Just sayin’.

The Pintestes gave everyone lessons this week, too, on everything from cat pee to horse shit. (We’re super mature.)

What I Watched

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past – I love a good Christmas Carol story and I love a good Matthew McConaughey movie (ok, let’s be honest– I love a bad Matthew McConaughey movie, too), and this was good in both ways. Plus, I got to watch it with some sweet, funny friends of mine and hang out before and after and eat too much and talk about girl stuff, so the whole situation was a win for me.

Other Crap

If you want to keep up with me on a minute by minute basis and just can’t wait to find out what the next piece of gray matter I toss up on the Internets will be, you can follow me on TwitterFacebookPinterest, and Tumblr. (I try to post different stuff in all these places, so you won’t get inundated with the exact same thing if you follow all of them.)

What kind of concealer did you use? The girl in the video has olive skin, and I’m super pale! I’m worried the yellow concealer she used would look funny on me.

I should have added what products I used to the post! I actually used Bare Minerals Warmth for the contouring. It looks scary, but it goes on pretty light. For the highlighting, I used a combination of Bare Minerals Finishing Veil (which didn’t work super well) and then I actually used an ELF white eyeliner pencil and blended it for some of the highlights, like on my nose and forehead and above my lip. But that’s just because that’s what was in my make-up drawer. I think yellow concealer would have looked weird on me, too, but the stuff I already had I knew was right for my skin tone, so I just used that.

The reason I am telling you about his is because I found your link regarding making DIY make-up brush cleaner and you mentioned tutorial regarding contouring makeup.
