My Glorious Visage

I’m an ever-hopeful type when it comes to haircuts. I always bring in pictures. Mostly, the haircuts turn out nothing like the pictures. Mostly, this doesn’t bother me too much. For one thing, I don’t look like Posh Spice or Katie Holmes, so I’m pretty realistic. But I still have an easier time explaining what I want in the form of pictures. So here’s the picture I brought in this time:

I’m pretty sure I couldn’t look any less like Jenna Elfman if I wanted to. But I want those curls, darnit, and I’m going to have them.

It’s been 10 years and some change since I graduated from high school. I just realized yesterday afternoon that I was wearing the same sweater I was wearing in my 1999 senior photo. Said senior photo:

I always bring a photo with me when I get a new hairstyle. But it never really turns out looking like the photo anyway. Most recently was the Katie Holmes bob. I don’t look like Katie Holmes in the first place, so, you know, I can’t expect much. But still. I was hoping for a little more Katie Holmes and a little less Chicago The Musical vamp.

This time, I brought in the photo to the left.

Nope, I look nothing like that. Nothing. But I keep hoping that, someday, I’ll bring in a picture of what I want my hair to look like and the magical hairstylist will be able to do it. Not sure why it’s so hard. Maybe my hair just foils them, like Harry Potter’s magical regrowing hair.

How about you? Does your haircut ever turn out like the picture? Does it make you mad when it doesn’t?

Ok, ok, here’s what my hair actually looks like now:

So I read that this year, purple is the color. I’m nothing if not a fashion maven (“bwahahaha,” say the people who know me and my frumpy butt couldn’t care less, most of the time), so I’ve been on a quest since then for all things purple.

This week upon our return from vacation, I had a lovely package of purple waiting in my mailbox! My cousin Kedrin is a craftress of beautiful crocheted items, including hats and scarves. I am the proud new owner of a Leslie hat and a Doris popcorn scarf– in purple! So I just had to show off.
In case you’re interested, Kedrin’s crochet business is called Attagirl by Kedrin. You can check out her stuff at her MySpace page. She does custom orders, so just let her know what you want. I can attest to the fact that her work is beautifully done and the yarn is nice and soft. Thanks Kedrin! I love my new purple stuff!

I always bring a photo with me to the salon when I get my hair done. Rarely, if ever, does it turn out looking anything like the picture. Today, though, I think we’ve gotten it pretty close. This is the picture I brought:

And this is me, looking slightly less Katie-like:

But not bad. I like it. I think it’s cute.
